De mossel is een van de belangrijkste producten van de Nederlandse schelpdieren sector. Het visserstadje Yerseke is het epicentrum van de mossel in Noord-west Europa. Circa 90 miljoen kilo, waarvan 50 miljoen uit Nederlandse wateren, komen hier op de veiling. Ik ga er ook in Spanje voor zorgen dat deze delicatesse op jouw tafel beland.
Ook Spanje heeft een bloeiende mosselindustrie in Galicië. Deze hangcultuur mosselen worden gekweekt in de rías, de riviermondingen.

The fishing town of Yerseke in Zeeland is the mussel epicentre of north-west Europe; approximately 90 million kilos of mussels a year – more than 50 million of which come from Dutch waters – are processed here and the town is home to the Dutch Mussel Auction. Most mussels that come from Yerseke are sold as fresh mussels.
